Fundamental to the existence of the Society is the interest in Radio as a means of propagating signals around the world. It is by this means that members and short wave listeners can keep up to date with the Society's activities and keep in touch with each other. Most of the members and short wave listeners listen to News broadcasts given by volunteer operators at regular times on spot frequencies. By having Scene of Action Frequencies, members can listen for other operators without having to scan the bands hoping to come across another member. Many RNARS Nets have evolved around the world on all the bands with local and DX operations being carried out with a high level of organisation.
